To make you go slow I break your spine

40 humps in 6 kilometers. Yes I am talking about the Harlur road which connects Hosur Road Near Singasandra to Sarjapur road near the outer ring road. Most of the humps in this road are illegal ones and are against the standards. Most of the cars will have to scratch its bottom on most of the humps. It is also called as a spine breaker by the medical experts. As per them. It is a big danger to the motorcyclists.
The actual speed breaker needs to be constructed only with the following specification.

Most importantly a driver needs to be notified that there is a speed breaker on the way with a signal and also by differentiating it with a different colors. There is a lot of accidents happening in this road when people tries to avoid speed breakers and move through the sides of it. Some department felt that there needs to be some action that needs to be taken and have drawn yellow zebra crossing. On all the humps.

It says something like this to me. You go fast and break your head, to make you go slow I break your spine. Choice is yours.

Dead body found in Bellundur Lake

Bellandur Lake (or Bellandur Kere) is a lake which lies to the southeast of the city of Bangalore, and is the largest lake in the city. It is a part of Bellandur drainage system that drains the southern and the southeastern parts of the city. The lake is a receptor from three chains of lakes upstream, and has a catchment area of about 148 square kilometres (37,000 acres). Water from this lake flows further east to the Varthur Lake, from where it flows down the plateau and eventually into the Pinakani river basin. It is currently highly polluted with sewage. the cost of maintain will come approx. to some 100 of crores the cost includes desilting, strengthening of bund and beautification.

361.3 hectare
Length- 3.6 KM
Breadth- 1.4 KM
Shore line- 2.7 KM
Water depth - 6 feet
There is a road through the shore of the lake which was earlier a bund between the lake and the field, which connects Bebllendur and Yemlur villages. I have been using this road to go to office for the past five years. Recently this road is tared and both the sides of the road has been fenced. This had increased the traffic But some portion of the road is still open and not fenced. Yesterday morning when I went to fooce on the way I could see that the police and the fire forece searching in the lake and there was a car white colour taken out of the lake. There were two boys who were fully drenched in mud. When I enquired they said that there is aperson missing. Today morning decan herald reported that the boy is still missing. While coming to office I saw that there is croud again in the same place where the boys hand is popped out of the mud.

Friends in a daze, police baffled Bangalore, Nov 17, DHNS

Both the police and fire personnel are baffled over the disappearance of Aditya, an young engineer, while travelling atop a car on Wednesday morning.
Five young men, all engineers, who were travelling on Yamlur tank bund lost control of their car and plunged into the lake. Four escaped unhurt while Aditya is still missing.
Aditya could not have fallen to the left of the road as there is a barricade and the only possibility is that he might have sunk in the slush in the tank.
At the Airport traffic police station, Vinod and Kishore were sitting dazed. Mohith joined them later and tried his best to unravel the story.
The police inspector took him to the car and asked him to show how exactly Aditya was travelling on top of the car. Meanwhile, a constable climbed the car and tried to position himself on the parked vehicle. Searching for words, Mohith could only mutter say: 'Sir, I can only say he was travelling seated on the top.”
The friends searched almost all the hospitals in the City on Wednesday, thinking that Aditya might have slipped and fallen on the road and someone might have taken him to hospital. But in vain. “Aditya is a very positive and hyperactive person. I am confident that even if he was stuck in the lake, he will wriggle out and meet us to tell the tale,” said Mohith.
Aditya’s parents were inconsolable. From early morning, they were glued to the earthmover which was digging out the weeds, in search of Aditya, who has gone missing.
Only child
Vishwanth, Aditya’s father told Deccan Herald: “Aditya is my eldest child and only son. My daughter is still young.”
After completing his PUC in KLE, Aditya went on to become an engineer. He has also appeared for the MBA entrance exam. The family is from Andhra Pradesh and came to the City long ago.
Till late in the evening, police were struggling to collect details of Sowmya and her whereabouts, since her statements are crucial for the case. Traffic cops were contemplating to file a missing complaint with the HAL police station.

God's hand while driving.

The person who taught me driving was George Thomas, a friend of mine in Bangalore. When I took my car for the first time with him, I had to take it to the reverse direction. He was not happy with that and told me, if it is in the reverse gear that you need to go while starting the car, then you first move the gear to the first and take the vehicle a little to the front and then take it to the reverse gear. I kept it a practice to do the same as part of the prayer. I also say "God save me", when I start the car. I have also seen most of the people in India doing this.
But some times I wonder then why would there be an accidents on the roads if they had started there vehicles after prayers. And this was disturbing me for a while.
It was Diwali and my in laws were invited to Bangalore to celebrate it with us. We booked a bus for him to Trichy on the Sunday after the Diwali. It was from Bommanahalli by 1:00 pm. we mistook it as 1:45 and reached there by 1:30 just to find that the bus has already left. One of the staff told us to try to get it from Hosur as the bus started 10 minutes ago. Since it was a multi axial Volvo it speeds very fast and was almost impossible to get the bus. I tryed to take a chance and speed to Hosur. It was raining heavily. Visibility was almost 30% the fastest wipe of the wiper couldn't wipe away all the water from the glass of my car. The cyclone was entering the land in between Chennai and Nellore.
I had taken my car today also after the prayer. While speeding the car a call from my inside is telling me that it is not safe to drive fast. While crossing one of the flyovers I could see an LED electronic hanging board displaying "Wet Road, Drive Slow". I knew what it meant and completely agreed to it, but I had to catch the bus in Hosur. I was driving in a speed of 120 KM/H. While crossing Naarayana Hrudayalaya Hospital, I could see a luggage Autoriksha crossing the road from the other side. I could see the blue colour of the vehicle partially through the water.  I pressed the break with all the force and held the steering with all my strength so that my car will not skid. I could see my child and my wife sitting next to me. The car was moving in the same speed by the tyres were not rotating. It skid for the next 50 meters. I could see that the auto moving to the other half of my car where my wife and my child were sitting. there was no escape but to hit it. I was sure that it was going to hit. I could not change the direction of the car while the car is under applied break, as there is no ABS in the car. But my inner will and cautiousness was not at all worried. I was holding complete confidence from inside. and was not at all disturbed. One meter from the Autoriksha, Streering automatically turned to the left and changed the direction of the car. It hurt my hand, as I was holding it so tight, at the angle of my hand. All of a sudden we made a narrow escape. My wife thought that I did a master technique to escape. My father in law who is an expert driver with out knowing anything told me that I should avoid these kind of people, who does not respect traffic rules. He thought that I was teasing the autoriksha driver and showing that I was going to hit him. When I said that "No, I was standing on the break, and trying to stop it", he got scared. there was no streaking sound from the road as the road was completely  wet. My wife she noticed that I was applying the break and with and expert twist I saved the life and appreciated me. And to her I said, "Yes, I had applied the break, which did not work, and was holding the steering tight so the car would not skid, but I did not change the direction. It was the God.".  It was the hand of the God to who I pray who changed the direction of the car, I told myself."

When you are demotivated

I am a person who thinks with the heart first and then with my mind. This is one of the reason why people close to me likes me. But this sometimes demotivate me when someone intentionally tries to trouble me. I feel people funny when they tries to cheat me. When I do things with big hope taking time out of my personal time and do something for the public, and at this time someone deliberately tries to create problem for me I gets really irritated. And this demotivates me.

A small story will give a strong pillar this thought. There is a drainage in front of my apartment on the side of the road. It was dirty and the rain water was not flowing as there was a blockage in it. The side of the road was also full of bushes. Around one fourth of the road was not utilized because of the bushes and the thons on it. I and some of my friends thought that we should clean it and started cleaning it. While we were cleaning some of the local people helped us in getting some tools. People started liking us. We also used to help the local people in different things. Some came to us for translating some documents and some came to us for filling some applications. Where some came to us to get some help for using the electronic electricity bill payment.

Hear I would like to introduce you to a person. He is the local politician, the municipal coporator , He wears a white dress all the time and always tries to show himself as everything and wanted to show that he is right. He wanted people to go to him and stand in front of him and treat him as an important person. He seems to notice we getting involved in things and did not like it. When he was told about us by one of the person who we helped, he intern told him that whatever these guys are doing are against the law. And whenever possible he used to create problems. One day we got some cement mix from one of the builders. They were taking it to dump it in a waste area. We talked to the truck driver and told him that any way you are going to dump it why don’t you give it to us. We would use it to fill the gap in the side of the road. He agreed. By now a guy from the panchayath called us. I heard that you are going to concreate the road. We said no, we are just going to fill the gaps. He said stopped us and told that you need to get the permission from municipal coporator for this. We went to him then he agreed with lot of constraints. He said you should not dump it anywhere. It has to be taken in smaller pots and taken to the places. We managed to do half the job and by then the truck driver said he is already late and took the rest of it and dumped it in the waste.

In another occasion when we were doing the cleaning of the road. He came and said that you should not be using the road in the busy hours for cleaning. He then send a complaint to the Police station saying that we were blocking the road in the busy hours, he said he would not be responsible if anything goes wrong. But we were actually cleaning the bushes, where people would not even come near. Next time onwards we thought we would ask permission from him and do things. But then he started finding faults in each and every thing we wanted to do. People who work in his office clearly told us that there is clear instruction from him not to allow us to do anything without his concern.

My Father Adv. Joseph Koyippally
One day I was taking the waste from my home to the municipal waste bin. A municipal cleaning man standing there suddenly turns and tells me” Sir you can not put bushes in to this waste bin. This is for the wastes from the houses. I understood why he behaves so and told him that I too live here and this is the waste from my home.

These kind of things when happen in life you loose faith in doing something for the society. But what my father taught me helps me to get myself motivated and I continue hearing my heart. My father, when I had done with my graduation got me next to him and told me, ”Do not worry when people turn against you, we live in the same world where Jesus himself was crucified. Do things so that I would get chance to tell this world that, you are my son and I am proud of him.” And he continued. “I have seen our nation before independence. I always loved my Nation and was always willing to do anything for it. I am getting old. Now you take care of my nation.”

How to Get a Stuck Car Free of Mud

Getting stuck in the snow can be a colossal headache. Everyone's first instinct is to do exactly what should never be done. You'll want to turn the wheel or to gun the motor for more power. Both of these things will get you stuck in deeper. To get out of a jam in your car, follow these instructions.
Don't rock your car back and forth more than 10 or 12 times, tops. You will ruin your transmission.

•1 Be prepared ahead of time. Keep a bag of kitty litter in the car for traction. It helps a lot in snow or ice.
•2 Use whatever you can find if you have no kitty litter. Tree branches are great for traction--just make sure that you aren't tearing up someone's property to get them. You can also use pieces of old carpeting, or your own car mats if you're really desperate. Sand, gravel or sandpaper will also work.
•3 If you have front-wheel drive, put the branches, litter or whatever you're using for traction under those tires. For a car with four-wheel drive, put them in the front first and then, if you have enough, put them in the back, too.
•4 Point the car wheel straight and try to rock the car. Move from reverse to drive quickly. If that doesn't work after eight or 10 times, give it up. You'll dig yourself in deeper if you keep it up too long, and you can ruin your transmission.
•5 Try to let just a little air out of the tires. That way they can grab a little more traction sometimes. Make sure that you don't forget to put air in again as soon as you can, though.
•6 Find branches and lay them in front of the tires and behind the tires. This is not always possible, but if you are near woods it can be a great last resort.

People who helped us while our car got stuck in mud in the middle of a forest.

Our car got stuck in mud in a road in the middle of the forest. The people in the picture helped us out. They did not even hesitate to help. The small boy in the pink shirt saw us and brought the rest of the people. the man in blue t-shirt is from Kottayam and is taking care of an estate, "Merry Land Estate". The estate belongs to a person in Pulinkunnu. They brought some tools and logs and helped us to pull the car out of mud. It was showing the real love of human to another. This is something which we now see missing in the city life. They did not mind making their hand and dress dirty for a strangers family.

Festiwal of Unity Ganesh Chaturthi

It was Ganesh Chathurthy festiwal, and we celebrated it as the festiwal of unity in Logica. We gave away Kozhakatta  a typical sweet made for ganesh chathurthy. Ganesh Chaturthi or "Vinayak Chaturthi" is one of the major traditional festivals celebrated by the Hindu community. It is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi (fourth day of the waxing moon period). Typically the day falls sometime between August 20 and September 15. The festival lasts for 10 days, ending on Ananta Chaturdashi, and is traditionally celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha.
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha is the son of Shiva (The God of Destruction in the Hindu Holy Trinity of Creator-Preserver-Destroyer) and Parvati (Shiva’s consort). The cutest and most lovable Indian God, Ganesha or Ganpati has the head of an elephant on which rests an elegant tiara, four podgy hands joined to a sizeable belly with each hand holding its own symbolic object - a trishul or a trident in one, an ankush or goad (made from his very own broken tooth) in another, a lotus in the third and a rosary (which is sometimes replaced by modaks, his favourite sweet) in the fourth. Revered as the deity of auspiciousness and wisdom, Lord Ganesha is also famous for being a trickster and for his profound sense of humour.
It is believed that Lord Ganesh was born on a fourth day (chaturthi) of the bright fortnight of the Hindu lunar month of Magh. Since then, an association between Ganesh and chaturthi has been established. Thus the festival dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha on this chaturthi day is named as Ganesh Chaturthi. There were some games organised by Syntillations. The team above is the winning team of tug of war game organised.
The strongest teams even broke the rope once. Josin and team challenging Venu's winning team.

My Grandmother Mariyamma Chacko Chakkalathara. turned 90

When the schools closes for the long vacations, me and my sister we always wanted someone from my mother’s house to come and take us to My grandmother house. She used to stay in a place called Kainakari in Alappuzha district. the only mode of transport to this place was boat at that service. We used to go in the government boat and then a small stretch we need to cover in a rowing boat (kadathu vallam). then for around half a kilometer we will have to reach Chakkalathara family house. The house is in a peninsula where the vattakayal in the front and two small canals on both the sides of the property. to reach the house from either side we need to walk on one of the one feet wide bridge, a bridge made of one single wooden block.(ottathadi palam).
There were lots of mango trees in different verities near the house. and we used to pluck , eat lots of mangoes in this period. any dish that she prepares was tasty. In such vacations I used to get Avalose unda, a sweet made of rice, with coffee in the evenigns from her. Now she is staying with her grandson in Trisure district. She was married to a farmer (my grandfather, Chackochan Chakkalathara, who owned around 100 para paddy field and 50 acres of rubber plantation at the age of 15.
But both of them lived a very simple life.
They have six children out of which my mother is the eldest, my mother had two brothers and three sisters. The last 22nd of Aug, me my mother, my brother, my wife and my child went to see her in Trichure.
She has just turnd 90. a few months back. She felt very happy seeing all of us. When we were about to go and asked her permission to go, she said. "Alright, would you stay back if I ask you to"? I could actually see that she is missing all her children and grand children. It was not that easy for her now. with age she feels that it is important to see children and her grand children. She is one of the most loving person I have ever seen. My father the first person I love in the world loves her like his own mother. He has told this many times to us. She now lives with the help of a walking stick.

The Best Joke I ever heard.

Sardars, the most loved people in this world, who always bring a smile to the face. No offence intended.

A Gujarati, a Madrasi and a Sardar were doing construction work on scaffolding on the 20th floor of a building. They were having lunch and the Gujju opened his lunch box & said, "Dhokla ! If I get dhokla one more time for lunch, I'm going to jump off this building." The Madrasi opened his lunch box and exclaimed, "Idli
Sambhar again! If I get idli sambhar one more time I'm going to jump off too." The Sardar opened his lunch and said, "Parontha again! If I get a parontha one more time, I'm jumping too."

The next day, the Gujju opened his lunch box, saw dhokla, and jumped to his death. The Madrasi opened his lunch, saw idli sambhar, and jumped, too. The sardaar opened his lunch, saw the parontha and jumped to his death as well.
At the funeral, Gujju's wife was weeping. She said, "If I'd known how really tired he was of dhokla, I never would have given it to him again!" The Madrasi's wife also wept and said, "I could have given him dosa! I didn't realize he hated idli sambhar so much."

Everyone turned and stared at the Sardar's wife. The Sardar's wife said, "Don't look at me. He makes his own lunch."

Google TiSP and GFlush :) Wonderful Google.

Google is one of the leaders in innovation. The recent one is TiSP(http://www.google.com/tisp/)
Google TiSP (BETA) is a fully functional, end-to-end system that provides in-home wireless access by connecting your commode-based TiSP wireless router to one of thousands of TiSP Access Nodes via fiber-optic cable strung through your local municipal sewage lines.

And no one would have actually thought of patenting the technique of Flushing the Toilet :)
"Grasp both ends of the spindle firmly while a friend or loved one flushes, thus activating the patented GFlush™ system, which sends the weighted cable surfing through the plumbing system to one of the thousands of TiSP Access Nodes."  Google it just think differently.

Onam Celebration 2010

We were doing the announcement of potluck that is happening in the office for the independence day celebrations. Saneesh approached me and asked me if we are also calling for the Onam celebrations. We Syntillations team when ever tried to do some religious or cultural celebration of one particular group of people then there was always an objection from some one or the other saying that the previous team has not done this because of some issues. Keeping this in mind I told him that let me discuss with the team and get back to you. Saneesh again said that he has got some contact of a person who prepares “Adapradaman”, a porridge made in Kerala, and would give his contact. Since I too am from Kerala, I actually did not wanted to comment on it or propose it. But Nandu who overheard the conversation immediately responded saying. Yes, we can do it. He then told me that let’s call him and get the details.
I then asked Saneesh to contact him and get the details. On the same day in the evening Vimal and Dilan found me on the way and made a proposal of giving banana chips and “Sarkaravarati” to all the employees, by collecting money from the malayalies who are interested in it. I liked the proposal and said that I will send a mail to all the malayalees I know and let them cascade. I checked with Nandu and he said that we could do this also from syntillations. I told him that this is the happiness that the people wanted to share to the rest of the people, and it is not about the money. He was convinced. I then told them that if the ends are not meeting then we can get the help of syntillations. I send mail to a few people and it went on cascading. The mail also had a survey. We got response from 143 people.
Then there was also an Athapookalam in front of Logica designed by Previn, drawn by Sulfy and decorated by Anee, Sruthi and team. It was also a nice one. It took 4 hours to complete it.
Then came a proposal from Nandu about making a nair’s tea shop in the cafeteria. Rajesh Thayial helped in arranging the tea master and the accessories for the shop. Previn Named it as Chandran’s chayakada. Josin brought banana and hung it in front of the shop. Which gave a perfect look. There was also a glass almara in which there was some pazham pori and puttu in it.
All together it was just amaizing.

ID celebration 2010 @ logica.

Independence day celebration this year was wonderful. I did not expect people to react to the national spirit in this level. From Syntillations we initiated the celebration in the cultural ways. We called for a pot luck party and went around in all the floors and told that this is as part of the Indian independence day celebration and asked people to feel that spirit. There was also a mustache competition and mehandi completion. Adding color to it we also called for the ethnic wear. It was absolutely amazing, to see people enjoying the celebration from the core of their heart.
On the 15th of Aug Promod Fernandes, the Director HR, hosted the flag. And many employees along with their families came to see and celebrate the same. Also gave away medals to security guards for their service excellence.

Syntillations, Logica

Logica strongly supports a club for employees called ‘Syntillations,’ which facilitates employee’s interests in sports, cultural and social activities and organizes get-togethers as well. This ensures that employees’ morale is high with avenues to explore interests, outside of the day-to-day work, like sports competitions, social service activities, special interest groups (trekking, biking and mountaineering), cultural events, etc.

Syntillations helps employees to interact with others having similar interests which would not be possible otherwise. It helps people move out of their comfort zone, as they often tend to work within their own teams and projects. Employees look forward to programs and initiatives organized by the club. Such network enhances the feel-good factor in employees and helps them bond with their colleagues and the organization.

Under Syntillations there are different wings namely Social Service, Sports, Talent, and Special Interest.
Since I am one of the elected Special interested group members of Syntillations. I with the help of other SIG Admin Santhosh brought an existing club called Photologic under Syntillations and formed other five clubs This club was formed by Krishnan and Venkatesh.
  • Wheels, for four wheel drivers (Sony Abraham and Vinu Padmanabhan helped me in this)
  • ecoriders for the bicycle riders( Ratheesh Menon helped me to make this club)
  • Bikers for the motor cycle riders
  • Parents club (Mukesh Rijhwani helped me to make this)
  • Logica Trekking club (Bharani implemented this idea)
  • QuizPeople(Sulfy Salim brought the idea and helped to make it)
It would not have been possible with out the support of Nandakumar, the president of Syntillations and Santhosh Kumar

My Time's UP?

A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience.
Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?"
God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."
Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her teeth!
Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it. After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.
Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another 43 years.
Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?"
(You'll love this)
God replied:  "I didn't recognize you!"

Challenging the age, Narayan Reddy

Narayan Reddy, the milk man in our apartment is 83 years old. But he looks very less. He collects milk coupons from each door by 11:30 in the night and supplies milk according to that by 5:30 in the morning. He is not only a milk man but also supplies drinking water in 25 liter barrel to the houses. If there is a failure in the electricity supply we can see he lifting it on his shoulder and climbing the stairs. He also have put up a small fruit shop in front of the apartment. There was a health check up in Logica arranged by Syntillations to all the employees. It was found that around 80% of the people are having more than deserved cholesterol level. And around 20% of the people are under medication. Now look at these people they are of the age group less than 50. In the world where people have reduced physical work, he is an example for leading a healthy life even at this age. His habits and his willingness to do physical work is helping him to lead a perfect physical life. But you ask him his age he would say with a smile, “ Nanage naluvathu varsha, ashte sir”(I am only fourty sir).

My Birthday on July 10 2010

My birthday is on July 10th. This year I got chance to cut three cakes. It’s a great feeling when you see people coming and wishing you on your birthday. It gave me a feeling at least that these many people are happy that I exist. And they are happy to share the happiness. At home with my wife and my child and with a family friend. At office with the office mates and the colleagues. But this year I was lucky to cut a cake with my friends in Syntillations. Most of the Syntillations members were there, and the volunteers of Syntillations. There were also some of the administrators of the SIG clubs. I had to stay there without making a move when they decorated my face with the cream of the cake. I felt very happy. Thanks to both the cakes. One arranged by Niraagulan Murugan and the other by Sruthi Kottaparambath. I could see the love they have when they were arranging the cake. And thank you once again to all the people who decorated me with the cakes cream. Nandu especially who did a nice artwork on my face J . Also thanks to all those people who came for the cake cutting.

To all the parents who scold their children

One of my favorite post in my brothers Blog.

To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students...
Here is something to make you chuckle.
Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.
After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was 'DON'T !'
'Don't what? ‘Adam replied.
'Don't eat the forbidden fruit.' God said.
'Forbidden fruit?
We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve... we have forbidden fruit! '
‘No Way! '
'Yes way!'
'Do NOT eat the fruit! ‘said God.
‘Why? '
'Because I am your Father and I said so! ‘God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants.
A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked!
'Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit? ‘God asked.
'Uh huh,' Adam replied.
'Then why did you? ' said the Father.
'I don't know,' said Eve.
'She started it! ‘Adam said.
'Did not! '
'Did too! '
'DID NOT! '
Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.
THE STORY !
If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.
If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!
1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.
2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.
3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.
4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

Home of The Richest God

There would be no Hindu in the entire world who will not be knowing about the sacred Lord Venkateshwara Temple in Tirupati. The temple is situated around 10 Km from Tirupati on Tirumala Hill in Chitoor District. Dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, one of the many avatars of Lord Vishnu, the temple attracts Hindu pilgrims from all over the world. It is said that the life of a Hindu is not fulfilled till he visits the temple at least once in his lifetime. The temple is considered as the most visited worship site in the world and the second richest worship place in the world after The Vatican in Rome.

It is estimated that, on an average, 60000 pilgrims visit the temple daily and on any special day, the number crosses 200000 mark without any bar. The average earning of the temple was calculated to about Rs. 5.3 Billion annually. The main earning of the temple is from the offerings and gifts presented to them by devotees. Even from the time of rulers and kings, the temple has been showered with expensive ornaments, jewels. Kings of the past have not only made the temple rich, they have made it the window to the true culture of religious India. The rituals that were part of the temple centuries ago, still finds significance in today's ceremonies. Festivals like Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Ram Navami and Janamashtami are celebrated with great enthusiasm, but the main festival is the nine day Brahmotsavam which comes in every September.

History And Legends
The exact age of the temple is not known and there are many debated versions about its origin and about the deity are prevalent. The reference of the temple can be found in Tamil literature dating back to as early as 500 B.C. Tirupati was then called as Thiruvengadam and was the northernmost part of Andhra Pradesh. It was in 12th century, Ramanuja, the legendary Vaishnava scholar, identified the deity as Lord Vishnu and put an end to the ever standing doubt about the deity. The temple was originally build by Pallavas; Hoysalas, the Vijayanagara rulers also contributed in the later stages and donated mind-boggling amount of gold that gave it the stature of the richest temple in the world. Since then the glory of the temple has spread to all parts of the world. In 1843, when British rule came, the administration of the temple was given to Seva Dossji of Hathiramji Mutt who was incharge till 1932 when Trimula Tirupati Devasthanams was set up and took over the charge of the temple.

Architecture
The main temple premises has number of other small shrines in different directions. Lord Venkateshwara Temple is primarily made in Dravidian style of architecture with the innermost shrine being its biggest attraction. The 'Vimana' or the dome of the shrine, known as 'Ananda Nilayam', is completely coated with gold. There are three enclosures called 'Prakarams' in the temple along with statues of Vijayanagara King Krishnadevaraya and his spouse that are the major attraction in the temple after the central shrine.

Tourist Information
Tirupati is well connected by road and rail to all the major cities of Andhra Pradesh. Tirupati is around 592 Km from Hyderabad. There is regular train service between Tirupati and Hyderabad, Vijayawada and all other major cities of the state. The daily rituals in the temple start early morning at 3 with 'Suprabhatam' and ends at around 1 late into the night with 'Ekanta Seva'. If you want to book a puja or offer a Seva in your name, then you can do so by paying the fixed amount at the counter. Cash, gift and other offerings can be dropped in the donation box called 'Hundi'. Due to huge inflow of devotees throughout the year, a special queue system has been made where you have to register at the queue offices near the main shrine. Here you are given a wrist band with the expected time of your entry into the temple along with your fingerprint and photo. This is to make devotees safe from the middlemen. This has impressively decreased the time of Darshan to almost half of the time required earlier.

Even after so many centuries, it is still able to perform every ritual the way they were at the start. The sanctity and purity of the temple can still be felt by devotees. If you get the slightest chance to visit this surreal temple of Lord Venkateshwara, do not let it pass by as it might just be once in a lifetime.

Vodafone Egypt Migration.

I was working with a product called uOne with Rajesh Roy. I and Rajesh were working on a migration tool which could migrate user data to LDAP and IMAP. One day he called me to a meeting room where we were joined with our Project Manager Asit Mishra. They explained me about the migration process and that there is a migration going to happen in Egypt for Vodafone. They said it was one prestigious migration for India because this could fetch us lot more migration. I was happy to hear about it, but was also wondering why they are telling me all this and that too to me alone. Then Asit said we are planning to send you along with Rajesh for this migration. I was happy and said ok. Now they both of them started to explain lot of things and asked me about my convenience in travelling and all the regular stuff. Everything went well. At this time, Rajesh asked me if my Passport is in Bangalore or if it is at my home. To this I said “I do not have a passport”. It was not there in the wildest dreams of both of them that they were talking to a person for so long who do not have a passport. I could see the facial expression of both those people who were talking to me for so long about the assignment. To which I continued, “But I could make one”.
I went back to Alappuzha taking leave for a week’s time and applied for passport in Tatkal and brought it in a week’s time. My passport was sent for visa stamping and got it stamped.
This was my first ever travel in a flight. I along with Rajesh got a flight to Bombay. From there we need to catch a flight to Dubai and to Dubai to Cairo, the final destination. We reached Mumbai Domestic Airport. We collected all our baggage and went to the International airport. The airport is an old one, which looked more like a bus stand.
We were standing in the queue and when it reached Rajesh’s turn they said, your “immigration clearance not required” is not crossed in the passport so you need to do that before going. There it was a situation and I thought we of coming out of the queue. All of a sudden, Rajesh Said, “ Alright, I will do this and follow you later, You carry on.” I was surprised, I know only half of the tool the rest of the half is managed by Rajesh, what if he does not come? . But he looked very confident. I got the flight. And reached Dubai and from there to Cairo. Customs checked all my bag and once I came out, there was a person standing with a placard with my name. I reached him, and said that I am Jomon from Logica. This man was in his fifties. He said, “ My neme iss Abedulle, I em uor darivar”. I said, “Alright you take me to the hotel now”. To which he continued, “Uorr Boss want me tu teke you tu offece”. I did not knew who my boss is there, all these information is with Rajesh. I did not wanted to argue, I noded my head and sat inside the car. He took me to Egypt’s Telecom center. It is around 50 acers of land with a building in the center. All the four walls around the compound was 15 feet tall and there were Soldiers with gun near the gate and on the watch towers. I met a person called Khaliq. He was the delivery manager of the project. I found one more person called David. There was nothing much to do that day, But the biggest stone thrown on my head was also on the same day. Rajesh called me over the phone, which was given to me from office and said that he is not coming. And he is going back to Bangalore and help me from Bangalore.
Another challenge was that there was no internet connection. The only way to talk was to make phone call. We kept on calling I Rajesh and Govind Pande from US. For Govind also it was a challenging project because it was he who decided to give the migration to Indian engineers. My phone bill was 40’000 rupees when I came back. Hureen, the admin manager called Rajesh and asked if he really need this phone.
I was there in Egypt for 33 days most of the days Rajesh stayed back in office till 12.00 am. and sometimes 1:00 am to help me. The migration was completed successfully and I came back. It was a great experience in my life. There were times when I stayed awake for 38 hours when the migration was happening. There were many issues in between but nothing bothered us, mean time I also mastered Rajesh’s part of migration, with his help and did that also.

Believe in the company

When I joined Logica, I joined along with other 130 graduates. Since it was a bulk recruitment Logica gave equal salary to everyone in the batch. Soon after the training, I got a job in GTBPC. For a product called uOne. At this time Prabodh Sirur who was with GTBPC was chosen as compensation review head. And this was the time of compensation review. One fine day there was a mail from Sushil Tayal the HR director notifying about the compensation review. In the email it was also mentioned that the people who joined after October 25, are not eligible for the appraisal. This was a sad news for us because. All of us joined on Oct 27th and 29th. Our salary was comparatively very low and if there is no appraisal happened that year we had to work in the company for another one year with the same salary, which was a real challenge for us. We had five batches, UNICORN, ANTS,CYBORGS, LOGIBEANS and NETACERS. One Unix batch, two java batch and two Microsoft technology batch. We were all in dilemma. We representatives from each batch go together to discuss on what to do. I and Pratik Roy from Unicorn, Vinup and Sachin from Ants, Dinesh from netacers and someone from cyborgue. We finally came to a conclusion that we need to talk to Prabodh about our concern.

We send him a mail and requested for an appointment. He immediately agreed and agreed to meet us in a meeting room the same day. We discussed with him about our concern. He told lot of things and at last he said. I cannot commit on anything as the decisions are already taken by the HR director, you believe in the company and the company will take care of you. We were not satisfied with the answers which he has given. But all of us, the representatives of each batch took the word very seriously, at least I took it seriously and convinced my colleagues with what he said “Believe in the company”. After a month it was the appraisal and there was an equal salary hike to everyone in the batch. From then whenever I think about the salary, I remember what he said. “Believe in the company”. Even after years in the company when we batch mates meet and if the topic turns to appraisal, we still say “believe in the company”. And still doing it.

Claire's Prayer

My eighteen months old child is going to a child care center called Juzzkids near electronic city, as both her parents are working. I am sure that she is losing a lot as a child, while my mother was always with me until I went to school after I turned five. Claire is a fast learner and observers everything happening around her. A few days ago we saw her standing keeping her hands clasped under her chin and saying something. We did not care about this initially. But when this happened again. We tried to understand what she was doing. From her school we came to know that they pray before going to sleep. And this is what she was doing at home. While praying they insist every one to stand. Next day at home we were all laying on the bed getting ready to sleep. Just to tease my child I said “Prayers”. She suddenly got up, stood on her feet and clasped her palms and started to chant. Suddenly she noticed that I was still laying on the bed. This was something against the rule for her. She stopped and looked at me embarrassingly. She waved her head sidewise and continually said “Enni, Enni…” (Enikku, Enthiri ) which means get up. I got up and sat on the bed. And acted as if I too was praying. She was not satisfied. She stopped for a while and started saying the same again. I tried to kneel down. She kept on rolling her head and asking me to get up until I got up completely on my feet. Without saying anything she started chanting her prayers. Once she finished, she lay down to sleep.

A simple thing taught in school, if can influence an eighteen month old child, what are the possibility of a school.

Turn off the engine” at the signals

We eight employees from Logica with the permission of Bangalore Police reached MG road on 5th Jun. It was the world Environment Day. We stood at the signal. When the signal turned red, we walked around the vehicles displaying a placard which read “Turn off the engine” . 30 % of the people were already doing it. 5% of them told us, sorry if I switch it off, it might not start. But the rest of the 65% of the people turned off the engine and gave a smile back. Many of them rolled down the window glass and said thanks. Most of them showed thumps up. Some of them took pictures. And a few congratulated and asked the details.

According to the local seller on the signal, normally it was hard to go in-between the vehicles because of the smoke and the sound and Today it is good. He said normally he gets tired and take rest after an hours business. But today even after 2 hours of selling he did not take any break.

There was a local news channel who came across and talked to us on the initiative. I was also called from Radio One and made me the warrior of Environments day.

To my right it is Santhosh, left Vinutha Abdul, Venu, Bhupinder, Sachindra, and Thilak, And Swami took this picture.

Long serving award

It was a Saturday. We got up from the bed a little late as it’s a holiday. I was in the couch with my child and my wife got me a cup of tea. The calling bell rang, and my wife attended the door. We thought that it would be our servant maid. To our surprise. There is a delivery boy holding bouquet of fresh flowers. He asked are you Ahilaa. When she said yes, He said, Madam this is from Wipro, as you have completed five years today in Wipro. He congratulated her and gave the bouquet to her. We felt very happy and she felt very important. It was a pleasant surprise.

Next Monday she send ma a mail which was send to her from HR department, congratulating her for completing five years. The letter also offered her a complimentary holiday package along with the family. In the evening of the same day she returned from office with a gift packet. She said it is given to her at office by her manager for the successful completion of five years. It had a leather pen stand a leather card holder and a leather photo frame. On all of it is embedded “Welcome to Club 5 , Wipro”.

Tuesday she got a mail asking for a new photograph, once she send it to them she got a mail asking her to collect her new ID card from the security. When she went to collect it, she was again greeted by the securities for he 5 year completion. They gave her the new ID card and a red color tag. While joining Wipro everyone gets a blue tag, after 5 years they get red tag and after 10 they get green tag.

It’s a great feeling to be recognized for the loyalty of the person who stays in the company for long. These are not expensive but for the employee and there family it’s a great feeling.

Nandakumar Kirupanandam

It is hard to find good leaders in the corporate word. It is only managers all around. Even if you see leader in the office, he would be leading a team as part of his job. And the real end factor of the Job is to have one nice profit building group. But I have seen a nice leader after long. He is one simple leader who get's involved in all the activities, even the simplest of all the activities in Syntillations. People love him for many reasons. One is the simplicity he has got and then it is the belief that he keeps towards himself, to the nation, to those who work with him.
He've been the president of Syntillations where I am one of the SIG(Special Interest Group Adminis). Any of the activity Syntillations is doing, he is a part of it. He also tries to keep the people together. Without any dispute.

Social Service is it done in the right way?

In my view social service ambassadors /CSR of a company should not be doing social service by going to some school and giving them books or food with by the money of the employees

They should ideally make sure that the employees of the company becomes socially responsible. It is important to bring the awareness to the employees of being a socially responsible person.

When you unnecessarily help a child you are making him feel comfortable and making him a lazy person who expects only from the society and never contributes to the society. You by helping a child by providing him food would be also pampering his father and making him feel comfortable enough to drink alcohol for another 30 rupees for the day.
It is easy to collect some fund from the employees and from the corporate on the reason of CSR and then you could also make sure that many of the schools are given enough food and books. It is also possible to make sure that you give the money and someone plants a tree for you somewhere. But how does it actually impact the employees of the company. They are still socially irresponsible.

It is more important to educate our people to help the society to be a better one.

Dry Triangle in the center of South India.

I am getting a little worried about the dry triangle that I have been noticing in the center of south India. This is called as a rain shadow region.
Earth always attracted me, also the maps and map reading from my child hood. I remember the interest I have shown in map reading as a Scout and as an NCC cadet.

I have been watching Google Earth and Wikimapia from the time it was introduced. I spend time in adding polygons and adding names in Wikimedia. Helping the world to get a clearer picture of the world. A dry triangle formation in the center of the southern part of India is getting highly visible. This is disturbing me on the thought of the future of Bangalore.
This triangle is getting prominent and browner in color. The green in this area is all getting vanished. And it is spreading towards the sides of the triangle. You can also notice that the rain water harvesting initiative which was taken forward by Jayalalitha, CM of Tamil Nadu has increased the green colour in Tamil Nadu. Then best way to see this is to download Google earth and see the history pages. you would be surprised to see the colour from green moving to brown in many of the areas.

The True Story of the Taj Mahal

The story of the Taj Mahal that most of us have known about may not be the real truth. Herein Mr. P. N. Oak presents an interesting set of proofs that show a completely different story. Contrary to what visitors are made to believe the Tajmahal is not a Islamic mausoleum but an ancient Shiva Temple known as Tejo Mahalaya which the 5th generation Moghul emperor Shahjahan commandeered from the then Maharaja of Jaipur. The Taj Mahal, should therefore, be viewed as a temple palace and not as a tomb. That makes a vast difference. You miss the details of its size, grandeur, majesty and beauty when you take it to be a mere tomb. When told that you are visiting a temple palace you wont fail to notice its annexes, ruined defensive walls, hillocks, moats, cascades, fountains, majestic garden, hundreds of rooms archaded verendahs, terraces, multi stored towers, secret sealed chambers, guest rooms, stables, the trident (Trishul) pinnacle on the dome and the sacred, esoteric Hindu letter "OM" carved on the exterior of the wall of the sanctum sanctorum now occupied by the cenotaphs. For detailed proof of this breath taking discovery, you may read the well known historian Shri. P. N. Oak's celebrated book titled " Tajmahal : The True Story".

Some archaelogistical remains claim that Taj Mahal was an ancient vedic Shiva temple rather than the tomb that Shah Jahan built in memory of his beloved wife who died during childbirth. Is there a way to solve this mystery ???

Meeting with the CEO of Logica.

Syntillations team was invite for a meeting by Proboth Sirur, the Head of staff, with the CEO of the Company, Abhay Gupthe. The objective was to let him know about the activities we do and to get his ideas.
He was impressed with each of us. I utilised the chance to introduce him all the clubs that we have made. Also the administrators of the clubs.
He was impressed about the way it is managed and also on the utilisation of the workspace. He said you are doing lot of things, but it is not reaching people.
I took him through induvidual clubs, wheels, ecoriders, bikers, logiwood, runners, photologic, in which he was impressed. He has given ideas on how to take it to a reach were people have interest in participating in these clubs.
