Wathis iis?

From the time I reach home till the time I leave to office in the morning. I could expect a sound “wathis iis?” any number of time any time. This is my two and a half year daughter Claire. She would point her finger to any thing she finds in the house and ask Wathis iis? (What is this?). Sometimes she points her finger on the same picture of an apple and ask Wathis iis? For ten times. And she would expect us to answer the same for all the ten times. There are things that I have started noticing or even seeing because of this. For her small eyes everything that she see is interesting and would want to know what it is.

Dost Post, has become a reality.

After a long wait and fight, Companies haves given importance to the Employee referral program. Thanks to all the people who have been asking for it, in the private and public meetings. And thanks to the management for acting on it and giving this opportunity. It is one of the employee benefits, where employees has got the right to refer and bring in their own people in to the company. It is also the responsibility to we people to make sure that we bring in the right candidate for the interview. The opportunity that we have now needs to
be utilized properly that the culture of getting employees from vendors and the culture of making us just statues in the field should be totally eliminated. This is one such opportunity that we needs to prove that we could bring right candidates through referral programs. If we remember we have been asking this question on why employee referral programs are not working in many forums. This would certainly help Company in many ways. It would bring in a culture within the organization where employees feels happy to work with the people they know well. It also brings the opportunity to our employees to bring in their family members, which would in return gives a great satisfaction and would reduce attrition. Employees also benefits with the employee referral bonus, which was going to some external employee suppliers. And we were forced to work with people who we do not know. This program should be a great success and hence we get opportunity to work with our close ones. It is not just the we people the company also is benefited if the program becomes successful. First of all we get people with good quality who we would not have to do background verification because it’s been referred by one of our employee itself. Company reduce the cost of finding a person and also reduces the risk of depending on a third party vendor, who is just interested in the count and not the quality. Attrition rate goes down because of the satisfaction and the close bounding between the people within the organization.

It is not our right to refer our friends to our company, which we should be enjoying when the opportunity is given to us. It is also a prestigious feeling that we also have a role to play in the recruitment process of the company that we work . I think we should all support this initiative that the management has taken now to make sure that the management continue this initiative throughout.

Where are the spoons?

If you get a spoon and a place in the cafeteria WOW! you are one lucky person that day. Where are the spoons? It is a usual seen in the cafeteria where you see a group of people around a pillar waiting for spoons. Survival of the fittest, is the rule here. If you are good in fighting in a crowd then yes, you are the one who could get spoon. And if you are not fit enough to fight in the crowd, you may have to wait for the next turn. Most of the time you will have to wait for the spoons or for a table or for a chair to have lunch. And all these time you wait for the spoon your project pays for it. So do not worry it’s not your personal time that you are wasting. You are paid to waste time. This is a fact. But then are you paid to wait for the spoon? Why is that we are not noticing this great waste of time which happens most of the day. The money spend waiting for a spoon or a table you could buy many spoons. It is heard that there are spoons purchased every now and then, But now it’s time to investigate where it is going. Is it been taken home with the lunchboxes unknowingly? If that is the case it is also brought back. I do not think there would be any employee who would wish to keep a canteen spoon at home. Is it thrown along with the waste? Then there should be a magnet kept to filter before it goes to the waste bin. The fun part is In the last Feast Syntillations have conducted 237 spoons of the vendor is missing. This is a pure mismanagement. I think the spoons are going with the waste.
Whatever is the case if investigation is done or not, it is really important to make sure that there are enough spoons, chairs and tables in the cafeteria so that time is not wasted. We have some 500 chairs in the cafeteria. So we should have at least 1500 spoons half always goes for washing. Most of the people would want more than one to share their dishes with their friends.
If nothing is working, I would advice each employee to bring one spoon each from home. Also a mat to sit and have.

GBS Bindra, a spark to our organisation

It’s been more than five years I have been working in this company. Most of the people who joined with me left the company. When one of my old friends asks me why I am not moving out of Logica I said “Where else would I get a chance to sit diagonally opposite to the Global Innovation Director of the company?” Even if it was a joke, I personally feel that the guys working in PE would definitely have a private pride of working for GBS. There would be thousand of things that anyone would have to say about him on his achievements, I am writing on the different face of the person which most of us would have noticed. There are many people who joined Telecoms for the reason that they needs to work with GBS. One of my coleague once told me that she and her friends did not even knew that there is a company called Logica, but after hearing the speech of GBS, they all decided to join Loiga. Well I do not know the authenticity of what it is been told but yes, He is a good speaker too. His speaches are very inspirational and also informative. When I joined, I have got many chance to hear him talking, one thing I noticed is that he speaks like an Australian in the morning and towards the noon he starts speaking like a British. Late in the evening he speaks like an American. His accent is different each time you see him talking. Later I myself concluded that the reason would be that he would have been in meetings with the people of these respective region of the world. Not sure though. For the people who work for him he acts as a WALL, like any ball that comes to the wicket Rahul Dravid defend its. And how ever fast the ball comes it turns to a zero speed with his touch. Having said about cricket. He is known to be a person who is always updated. On anything that you talk to him he seems to have a still new information on it. While having a coffee with Asit Mishra, last day, I heard him wondering about the same thing. You walk from your desk to his, watching Tendulkar hitting a six to century, and tell him that Tendulkar has done with his next one day century. And he would say, “Yes, but then he is also out”. He is so updated on anything that you talk to him and you wonder how. He is one such person I have noticed who should need more time a day. We would never see him wasting time on anything. Even while he walk, you would see him checking the mails in his blackberry. No wonder he became the Global Director of Innovation at Logica, where he is responsible for driving company’s innovations and works closely with the executive committee to align these initiatives with Logica’s strategic goals.  I have read some were that prior joining Logica he was brought in to lead R&D in India at Ariba after the dotcom downturn, which leverage innovation to fuel growth. Puncom become official IT service provider to create and manage an IT and communications system for the ICC World Cup of Cricket in 1996 in most of the areas of the Indian subcontinent, under his leadrship. The name GBS Bindra itself is an innovative spark to our organisation. To me, yes,  he is one of the inspiration in the current world.

Bangalore, Ever thought, what happens to the water that you spit in the wash basin at your home? Any idea?

Atleast some of you might know that most of the water flows to Belledur lake, but from there? .. It receives water/sewage from Ulsoor Lake, Chellaghatta Valley, Hulimavu, Doddbegur drain, Madivaala Lake, Tavarrrakere, Bellandur Lake. That becomes most of the water waste in Bangalore. It’s not a short story. It’s a long one. It travels around 350 kilometers and reaches the Bay of bangal :)  Interesting??
It’s not a joke, see the picture.
It crosses Tamil Nadu border after flowing 40 KM. and another three kilometers to Avalappali Dam.
After flowing for 110 KM it reaches the , KRP(Krishnagiri Reservoir Project) Dam, the main Water resource for Kaverippatinam and around 100 villages. It continues to flow to Sathanur Dam/reservoir while it has already flow 220 KM. This magnificent Sathanur dam was built in the year 1958. It is located near the Chennakeshava hills in Chengam. A large area of agriculture lands are benefited through water stored in this dam. From there it continues to flow to flow to bay of bangal and reaches it after flowing for 350 KM in between Cuddalore and Pondichery along with the Pennaiyar river that originates at the Chennakesava hills.

Why false promise? Where is the shadow show?

The mail from syntillations about the Pongal celebrations also announced that there would be a shadow show, which did not happen. Why? How many of you found this, it’s that we do not bother as we are in a society where we hear lots of promise which we know will not come true. Still we cheer when someone makes a promise. How many of you questioned this? Well if someone wanted to know then. Yes, the Anandapadmanaban and his son Tejaswi was here. Most of you might have seen Tejaswi, he was once introduced to all of us last year immediately after he got recognized as the youngest juggler in Karnataka. I have visited his home. The bright student in his school, back from his school learned magic from one of the book he got. Looking at his interest and skill, Anandapadmanaban, an employee of Biocon, started buying him more books and videos on magic. While we appreciate movies like Three Idiots and Tare jameen par, and we preach about bringing up children with the real interest they have, back home we ignore to practice it. “Well my son, I know, he wanted to be a doctor, is that not by boy?” In the middle of the people like us Anandapadmanaban practice this in his real life. When asked about his boy’s studies and his daily activities, Anandapadmanaban said,” He had never given me a chance to worry about his studies, I do not want to bring the culture of comparing him with his friends, I do not do that, eventhough he is one of the best in the class. Only thing I do is that I make sure that he is not de-motivated. He like to show his talent to people and he gets great satisfaction, So I take him to any possible stages where I could take him. I take leave in my office. I think my boys interest is more important for me”. Now the boy is interested in shadowgraphs and is doing his own experiments.
This father and son were not allowed inside by our security. They said that the boy is just 14 years old and it is a violation and child labor is not allowed. Is that the security guard did not had the differentiating capability between an artist and a labor. If that is the case then how could we have Sachin in cricket, Kamalahasan in theater, They were all child labors when they started performing. We proudly say about Lata Mangeshkar that on the first day in the school, she started teaching songs to other children. When the teacher stopped her, she was so angry that she stopped going to the school, where she sang her first song when she was 13 year old.
The boy and his father kept waiting in the reception for an hour and returned sadly without performing. The right of a boy to perform was questioned when National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) itself allows child artists to perform for certain duration of time. Even in the United States, federal law "Specifically exempted minors working the Entertainment Business from all provisions of the Child Labor Laws." Any regulation of child actors is governed by disparate state law.

Do we need a better security checking, or dont

Security checking is one of our responsibility, because it not only helps the organization but also you as an individual it is important for us. But is it done in the right way? I do not know if it is a requirement from some standards that we are supposed to follow, which insist us to follow all these security checking before we enter into the company premises. I have noticed that some of the employees shows their faces to the security guards who asks them to open the boot of the car for the security checking, or the employees who are asked to give the bag for security checking. It is sad, they are only doing their job. They are hired to do this as you are hired to do your job could be coding or testing, managing or what so ever it is. How would a test engineer feel if the developer shows his face to him when he reports a bugs? Lol.. interesting, isn’t it? Think what goes those security guards, when they end up doing a day’s job. “I do not know how his manager manages him, or how would he be at his home”, I overheard one of the security staff saying this on the back of one of our employees who shouted at the guard when asked to park the vehicle in another place as the place he parked is on the way.

Having said that, I gave a thought on why people react this way? Why do they feel offended while security offers a security check. I found one interesting fact about it. Most of the checking are done as part of the Job and people feel that whatever is done is not helping. Once you reach office in a car you happily stops the car letting the security checking the bottom of the car. This makes sense to most of us. What if someone keeps something (a bomb) under the car and makes us a carrier to office. “Good please check, I do not want me to be one, and also would not want someone to destroy at least my car in the whole process”. But the next step would certainly take people a little back. The security guard asks to open the boot of the car so that he could check it. We pull the liver. He opens it wide and closes it. I wonder what was he looking for. He would ignore if there is a box in it. If some things needs to be there, it’s only me who could keep it as it’s a locked one. So do they doubt you? And they do not have a problem if you bring the thing in a suitcase. And even if some employee wants to bring it in. Knowing that They would check the boot he would keep it in the front seat or in the dash or at least keep it in the bag. They would not mind if you keep something which is as big as a trunk box. If the car is a hunch back one, then they would ask you to open the rear door and peep in behind the rear seat. This would certainly make you feel that there is no meaning for what is done there, at least the way it is done is not effective. If someone wants to bring something can he not use the space near the engine in the front of the car? Why only the boot? Now as the first step is over, you go ahead and reach the securities in blue near the swipe in points.

He would ask you to handover the bag. He would open the fly and peep in to it. Just for the reason of doing it. But what was he looking for. And while he do so, you see a board which makes you understand what are the things security guards are looking for. There was a picture of a hand grenade too quite a while ago. Now are these people trained enough to detect things. Explosives can now be molded in to any shape. what if someone makes a cap shaped explosive and walk in? Or are they expecting five 15 inch roads with a clock attached to it with blue, red and yellow wires springs running all around and all the rods are taped together with an insulation tape? (The usual cinema one) . If a person has got to bring in any of these things then why not he plan better? Why not he stop the fruit vendor and bring it in with one of the baskets which goes directly to the cafeteria?

Now why are all the pouches of the bag not checked? Now if I am a person who wanted to bring in one of the things displayed on the screen, knowing that I will be checked, will certainly not keep it in the main pouch but on one of the side pockets. Or what would stop me bringing it in my Lunch box? Or what if I bring it in one of the pockets of my Jacket. Not at all bothered. Only thing the security is bothered is that the fly of the main box has to be opened and peeped in and closed. All the mobile phones has got a camera now the latest ones have got a pretty decent zoom and focus. But a still camera is not allowed in? Where the mobiles can also record video.

These are one of the things which is making people think that the system is not effective enough to handle what is required. And is one of the reason why people are not appreciating it. If we are doing only to satisfy the process,… else we need to have a better way of doing this or needs to have a correction in the current process.

Finally Number Portability Starting Jan 20th 2011

Keep your mobile number and change your operator so simple.
Most of us wanted to change the number because of the operator but could not change it because we would have shared their mobile numbers with many contacts and would not like to leave the number. At last MNP is happening from January 20th 2010. And it should happen in 4 days as the law enforces.

change your operator in six simple steps
You are done with your operator changing :)

Another thing to keep in mind about MNP is that even though a subscriber is free to keep switching service providers as many times as he/she wishes to; they would have to stay for 3months with an operator.

Interview should not be to do with your job.

A person taking the interview represents the whole of the organisation. Now in India especially Bangalore, a person decided to move out of a company is getting different options. He would at least get five offer letters before he conclude to one. Salary, Nature of work, Status of the company, Employee benefits, possibility of exposure to technology and skills, Projects etc are some of the major factors that makes one to decide upon which company to join. But I believe that there is one main factor which actually makes a big impact. And that is the nothing but the person who takes the interview.
Technical people who take the interview shows how technical the company is.People who take HR and the soft skill rounds represents the company and should be having the capability to judge the person in such a way that they understands that if it is worth taking this person. Most of the times when technical interview is taken the task is to check if he would agree to the minimum salary. Hear itself the thing is going wrong. Why do you want someone to be take in a lowest possible salary to which he agrees at that time. Yes, this would certainly help the HR. But we are not taking him for HR but for the Project. Very soon hie would approach the Project and start taking about a better hike. And this would again create tension in the project. And soon he leaves the company. One thing what we forget is that. When you find the right candidate, you are actually not selecting him but showing a demo of your company in front of him so that he selects your company. The person who takes the interview should also feel for the company and take the interview. This could reduce a lot of attrition happening in the corporate world. To make this possible, there needs to be a direct benefit attached. If the person who is selected in the interview is performing good in the appraisals, the person who took his technical interview needs to be also appreciated. A person is staying long in the company needs to be certainly appreciated but at the same time the person who has taken his personal interview needs to be appreciated. In my company we have a concept of having two managers. one is the line manager and the other is staff manager. The line manager is the person to who you report to the the project. Staff manager is responsible for your growth. While taking the interview staff manager or in companies where you are attached to units. a representative who would be responsible for you throughout your carrier in the company should take the interview and see if he/ she is responsible and is worth taking the person to the company. and the person also should be showcasing that what the company is. It’s time to come out of the normal way of recruiting people for just doing your job. Most of the people do things so that their job is done. If asked to recruit people and increase headcount, we also needs to be responsible enough to take people who are going to fill in the gaps of the business coming in and not just to complete the job. People should not be just following the words as said but needs to think why is it said so. And you need to take decisions on your work which is good for your work. else we do not need such designated and educated people to do these jobs. If or job is just to obey orders then we could get people from anywhere. I remember an year before one of my friends sister came to attend the interview as a fresher. The friend of mine who I am referring to joined in the company as a graduate and continuously got good rating and is considered as one of the best employee in the Business unit. He was also awarded with the LORE award once and also got the best programmers award. He is one such person of who client is always happy and have never received any complaint on him from any one. Coming back to his sister. She got 79% in her engineering, and the cut off the company declared was 80%. She was not given a chance to write the exams. My friend requested for giving her a chance to write the entrance exam at least, and if she is proving herself then take her. His request was not considered. Now this in my view is a great mistake. The person who was not even thinking of changing the company, planed to change the company and resigned. he was offered high in another company We had to struggle hard and make lot of options to convince him to stay back. I was referring to this scenario to show how people needs to be flexible and take their own desertions. Now 79% is certainly a high score and will have no difference between a person getting 80% and 79%. Since there is a rule, people did not even think why that rule is made when rejecting her. Well if you would have given her a chance to write the test and if she fails in it, it was a different case. This is one of the actual employee benefits. Now it is also the family of the person who work for the company who cares for you. And this make a real branding which you can not get spending millions of dollars. One of my colleague told me a few days before, the branding that you could not get by givig thousands of rupees as monthly salary, was built in my home when I took home one packet of cashew which was given on Diwali. So start thinking out of the box. It is also the family which helps a person to take decisions.

Here I am forced to remember what Colin Powell said once. “You know the expression "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission?" Well, it's true. Good leaders don't wait for official blessing to try things out. They're prudent, not reckless. But they also realize a fact of life in most organizations: If you ask enough people for permission, you'll inevitably come up against someone who believes his job is to say "no." So the moral is, don't ask. I'm serious. In my own research with colleague Linda Mukai, we found that less effective middle managers endorsed the sentiment, "If I haven't explicitly been told 'yes,' I can't do it," whereas the good ones believed "If I haven't explicitly been told 'no,' I can." There's a world of difference between these two points of view.”

Now the choice is yours. think for the company until you are a part of it.

Some insights into 2G Spectrum Scam

This is an email that I have got. from one of my friends.
Some insights into 2G Spectrum Scam (http://killcorruption.org/ )

Q. What is the 2G Spectrum Scam?
In 2008, the union government awarded pan India licenses and second generation telecom spectrum to 9 companies in 122 circles for offering mobile telephony services. These licenses were awarded in an arbitrary and non-transparent manner for a paltry sum of ` 1658 crores, which was the price discovered in 2001, when the teledensity was very low.

Q. Who are allegedly involved in the scam?
• Telecom Minister A.Raja
• Corporate Houses
• Government Officials
• Corporate Lobbyists
• Media Houses

Q. What is the amount of scam involved?
Based on the subsequent auction of airwaves for third generation (3G) services, which fetched nearly Rs. 63,000 crores, and that for broadband access, which fetched over Rs. 35,700 crores, the notional loss to the exchequer due to under pricing of 2G spectrum was estimated by the CAG to be a whopping Rs. 1,76,000 crores !!
Q. What does Rs 1.76 lakh crore mean to our nation?
• 4 Times the money used to build the golden quadrilateral connecting delhi, mumbai, chennai, kolkata - to improve our road connectivity and trigger economic growth.
• 30 lakh RTC buses - Could be a big boost for our defunct public transport.
• 11 crore buffaloes - Could improve our dairy sector
• 1868 Nagarjunsagar dams - Could vastly improve irrigation sector (No more need for loan waivers)
• 23 Shamshabad airports - Could improve the aviation sector big time.
• 25 Lakh Nursing homes - Could be a big boost of our disastrous health sector (India remains home to one-third of the world's undernourished children)
• 30 Lakhs Schools - Can go a long way in improving our literacy rate - 65%
• 35 Crore Computers - Could establish India as the IT capital of the world
• 504 Fighter Jets - Could strengthen our defense system in a big way.
Q. Can this money be recovered?
Yes. Under Section 23 and 24 of the Indian Contracts Act 1872, a contract becomes void if it is tainted with corruption. The government can cancel the current licenses and recover the lost money by fresh allocation of 2G spectrum through international competitive bidding after laying down transparent eligibility criteria in consultation with TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India).
Q. Did we ever recover such scam money previously?
Yes. In 2007, the Indian Army did not hesitate to scrap a $600 million-worth deal for 197 helicopters with Eurocopter, the world’s largest maker of civil and military helicopters (and a subsidiary of EADS, the European defence and aerospace group), following the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)’s criticism of the bidding process and illegal use of middlemen, violative of the existing policy of prohibiting middlemen in military deals. The Army subsequently went in for a fresh and open bidding process.

Q. Do we have enough evidence to prove the scam?
There were many events leading to the day when the licenses were given...
• TRAI had recommended auctioning of spectrum at market rates.
• Raja ignored advice of TRAI, Law Ministry, Finance Ministry and even the PMO.
• Licenses issued on a first-come-first-served basis
• Cut-off date for applications advanced by a week
• Rules changed after the game had begun.
• One more clinching evidence is that the bidders were asked to give a bank guarantee of 1600 cr, and the time given to satisfy the clause - 45 mins. Its impossible for even the biggest of the corporate houses to arrange for such a huge money in just 45 mins. But, the successful bidders were able to provide the bank guarantee. If they did not had prior knowledge about the clause, how can they arrange for it? This proves clear favoritism.
Q. What should the government do?
As we discussed before, the immediate steps should be to recover the scam money by canceling the licenses and issue new licenses international competitive bidding. But there should be some long term measures to eradicate the menace of corruption from our country. A JPC or PAC as demanded by the opposition will not do any good .
• Enact a comprehensive anti-corruption law and create an Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC). IACC set up in Hong Kong in 1974 reduced corruption within a few years. When it was first set up, wags referred to the ICAC as “I can accept cash”. However, the ICAC has worked, precisely because it is independent.
• Enact a Windfall Profits Tax law (on the lines of the UK law 1997), which will provide for stiff taxation of windfall profits earned by corporates in the exploitation of natural resources either because of monopoly or a change in the global economic environment. The companies that cornered the 2G spectrum licenses through questionable means and sold them within weeks for astronomical sums should be subjected to the proposed windfall profits tax. Such a law will also help tax the abnormal profits made in the mining and other sectors.
• Enact a False Claims Act (on the lines of the U.S. law). If the exchequer incurs any loss because of fraud or misrepresentation or violation of the due process as determined by an independent, competent authority, the guilty will have to pay a civil penalty equivalent to three to five times the loss sustained. The U.S. Government has collected over $24 billion from corporates under this Act.
Q. How can you help to stop this scam?
There are many ways you can help in recovering this scam..
• Sign online petition to Prime Minister of India (You took the pain to read this mail, spare 30 more secs and this is the least you can do for the future of our country)
• Email to Prime Minister of India ( manmohan@sansad.nic.in This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; pmosb@nic.in This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )
• Post a card to Prime Minister of India (The Prime Minister of India,
PMO Building, South Block,
Raisina Hill, New Delhi - 110101)
• Send one rupee money order to Prime Minister of India. The Money Order will cost Rs.2.25 (Re.1 + Re.1 as MO fee and Rs.0.25 for the MO form), and has the added advantage of someone in PMO having to acknowledge it.
• Join & Spread awareness about 'Cancel 2G Spectrum Licenses' Campaign on Facebook, Twitter and Orkut communities.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead
There are many things that we cannot do individually or fight against the Government to punish the guilty. But there are some people who have taken their anger to the next level to clean the system and make INDIA a better place.
Let us at least give our supporting hand to the people who are ready to change the system/curb the corruption.

An year full of fun and learning through Syntillations.

Election rolled out for Syntillations, the club of employees, last year and I nominated myself as a Special Interest Group Administrator(SIG). Kasibatla Bala approached me and said that there is a team which we are forming and if you would like to join in the group. I met the team and though that yes, I would go for itThe election result was declared. Unfortunately Kasibatla Bala did not make it, rest of all the candidates from our group won. I was the first one to be declared won in the election result announcement.

Nandu –President. . I was also approached by Benson and said that Reddy has also made a group and why don’t you join in his group. I said that I have already joined a group. Reddy is from PE-TP, the department I belong to. So even though I went for canvassing with Nandu’s team I voted for Reddy.
Nandu was  the appropriate person to hold the post of the president. He is social dedicated , true and faithful.  Without he being the president for this team there would have been many disputes. It was also not possible to handle so many things. He personally involved in each and every event happened in different departments.
Jagadeesan VP, was happy as this was the first functional Syntillations management committee formed in Chennai. He took care of the complete Chennai Syntillations activities and justified his role he has taken.
Sudheer – Tressure. We were together in the same project for the last five years. It was for him I filled the survey for the Syntillations elections, Since I could not nominate another person, he had to do it from his own PC. Since the survey was opened I nominated myself. He initially was planning to contest  in the election as the president. I told him to contest as the treasurer. He was the only one from Bangalore who stood for this post which is common for both the locations. He was so responsible for the last one year and spend money as if he is spending his own money. Many of the syntillations members had fought with him for not releasing funds on time. His theory is that if you release fund easily they will not spend smartly. He will also follow you until you claim for the funds that you have taken. Such a true person to handle fund. Without he taking care of the funds our team would not have done with these many events.
SIG – Me, Santhosh from Bangalore and Naarayan and Barani from Chennai
Santhosh was my partner in the canvassing as a Special Interest Group Administrator. One day one of my friends told me that there is another SIG candidate Ajay who approached her and asked vote. She said that she told him a big no and said that I need to vote for Joe. When said that there are two votes for SIG. She refused saying that I would only vote once because it gives more weight to Joe. Till them I had not thought of doing single vote. As Adam got the idea of eating the forbidden fruit from Eve, I too got this idea. Hence I did not vote for Santhosh, which I later regretted for. Not only that I have also told one of my colleague to vote only for me. Santhosh had given a right kind of support through out. He was also interested in the social service. Naarayan was another important person in the group who corrected the mistakes and also points out the mistakes with out fail. He is so talented and was an overall contributor in the group. Barani helped Naarayan in the SIG activities and made the clubs in Chennai. When it was taking time in making trekking club in Bangalore he went ahead and started it in Chennai. He was also behind the group 24 frames in Chennai.

Social Service - Niraagulan and Vinutha from Bangalore, Jigassa from Chennai
Social service is one of the most projected side of Syntillations to the rest of Logica. Niraagulan is the person who have contributed in all the departments of Syntillations. There would not be any member in the group who would have not got his help. His expertness in the Microsoft Office Sharepoint Service helped Syntillations to make a beautiful portal. I learned sharepoint with his support while creating the sites of SIG. He is a people’s person and would wanted to be with people. His help and contribution has played an important role in making many of the events successful. His group of friends who were the volunteers for most of the events played the role dedicatedly because of him for the smooth run of the programs. With out them it would not have reached people and also would not have the fresh and young feel. Some of them have got elected themselves to the new Syntillations team this year, and this too is because of Niraagulan. Syntillations helped him in his transformation to a responsible, matured man.
Vinutha is a strongly dedicated girl who would proactively follow up things what ever she does. One of the favorite team member of Nandu. Once she takes the responsibility in doing some thing then she takes the complete ownership. But she would also expect people not to interfere in her activities. She has justified her role as a social service ambassador. She was behind all the social service activities happened in Bangalore. Not only that she had done most of the things but also helped the CSR team of the company to project it to the rest of the Logica. She and Santhosh goes to a blind school and spend time with the people there.
Talent Managers- Thilak and Punitham from Bangalore, Santhosh from Chennai
Thilak is the person behind the curtain most of the big functions that happened. His dreams are big. His knowledge in the Light and sound, and his experience in the event management helped us in doing things easier. His connections in the event management world helped us to get things cheaper. Oscars, Malgudi days were all his dreams. Punitham was more on to the talent hunt in the company.
Sports Ambassidors – Venu and Alex from Bangalore, Beski and Raja from Chennai.
Venu is a nice friend and always supported me in many of my activities. His idea of bringing fitness to the employees, has brought many gyms and fitness centers to people. His different approach of bringing a festival of fitness for the whole week was one of his great successes. Even though I formed a club under SIG for runners, it was he who handled it. He is also a people’s person who has got lot of friends around him. One great quality in him which I noticed is that he never forgets to appreciate.
Alex is a celebrity in the company as he is the person who drives the cricket team. He is one such person who I have seen who is a complete sports person. He is also daring in giving he opinion to anyone. A nice person who loves people and loves the God.
Team was very nice.

I had a big challenge in front of me there was no trail left by my predecessors.
First I decided to spend some time on what all to do with the help of Niraagulan, I learned how to make use of sharepoint.
I made some clubs and was searching for the right people to administrate the club.

Wheels, a blog for the people who love there cars. Sony and Vinu took charge of the club.  This is one of the top 30 blogs in the whole of logica now. It brought free emission test once.
Bikers, a club for motorcyclists, Josin and Aby  administrated the club. Josin took charge of the club and administrated the club he have also made many posts and tips in the club for the encouragement of the members.
Runners., a club for runners it started with midnight marathon and have participated in may marathons Athreia and Reshmi are the Administrators of the club. They not only administrate but also goes for most of the runs in Bangalore.
Ecoriders, this is one of the favorite of my clubs because of the way it is administrated. Ratheesh Menon, a nice adventurous person who has got the fire in him. He not only helped me in making the club but also made me to buy one bicycle. We went for some rides in the Saturdays. He with the help of Mayank organized a workshop for the bicyclers. Took a group of 10 to Wayanad for a two day bicycling with the help of muddy boots. The club is very active and has got lot of members in it.
Logowood/ 24 Frames:- this club is for the people who like movies this is later renamed to 24 frames. Barani added lot more to it. When Thilak’s dream came true there are now some 10 movies made by the Logica employees in the library. Raju is the administrator of the club.
Quiz people One day Sulfy called me and asked if I could help in forming a nice quiz team in logica through Syntillations. Hence the Quiz team was made. A very talented group of people. Soni and Vivek are the other administrators along with Sulfy in the club. Through this club teams were found to represent Logica in some of the corporate quiz championships. One day I and Nandu approached GBS Bindra, the global innovation director on his view on the club. He agreed to sponsor an ever rolling trophy in his name. It is called Inquizzit. I and Nandu spend around 6 hours in a shop to make the trophy. They have conducted many competitions in the company. The latest of there quiz master is Mustafa, a person who led Tostmasters in logica for many years.
Photologic It already existed in logica but was not with syntillations. Murthi and Krishna both of them have already brought this club to a certain height with around 400 people in the group. We approached them and asked them to come under the umbrella of Syntillations. They were happy on the way I convinced them with the proposals. The club has monthly competitions. There is also a forum where we could post pictures and some one would give feedback on it. Murthy brough his friend Kalyan Verma from National Geographic to take a session which was highly informative.
Trekking Even though this club was made there were lot of hiccups in starting the activity because we could not find right people for administrating the club. Then santhosh took the responsibility and facilitated few trekking. We have also found two young people as the administrators of the club.
Great Patents Club. One of the most beautiful club, We had the idea of making this but had always things which stopped. A starting point was missing. This is when Prabod Sirur came to us saying that he has written a book on multiple intelligence, he said he would like to give a presentation to the people through syntillations. We were happy to hear and invited him to give his presentation in the induction to the new joiners along with Syntillations. Inspired from his presentation, Great Parents Club was formed. The right candidates to administrate the club were also found. Yesh Save and Mukesh Rijhwani. They are bringing this club to heights now.

There were many programs organized by syntillations. Horse riding, Biryaniday, lunch, republic day celebrations, independence day celebrations. Mushtache competition, ethnic wear, IT lab in yemlur school, Talent hunts, Logica Oscars, Sports and games, Blood donation camps. I am proud that I am the one who introduced a mustache completion in Logica which had a huge number of response, where we conducted it along with ethnic day and independence day celebrations.

One big failure was one of the birayni day where the chicken brought was rotten. And people had to leave hungry. A vary sad and tensed day. This is the day we realized that even if people do not appreciate for a good thing that you do, they would not spare you if you are responsible for one mistake happened.
We also celebrated most of the religious and cultural functions. Dillan and Rajesh Taiyil made the Onam a success where I remember Sulfy and Anne was making the floral decoration in the night. With the help of so many people. Dandiya day, Diwali celebration, Ramadan celebration with Biryani was one of the tasteful day, here I can not afford to forget Abdul who is one such person who has got the good heart who really helped our team in many difficulties. Avinash, Swami, Teresa, Joseph Anthony are some of the other people who helped us in the difficult situations.
I also got chance to bring a nice relationship with the yemlur village and Logica. Thanks to Srinivas and his friends who supported us and also JP and his friends for there help.
I would like to thank all my friends who supported us in this tenure including Previn Ravi, Bhupinder, people from Training department, admin team corporate communications for all there support.
The greatest support I got was from my project. I would like to thank Rajesh and Asit for the liberty they gave me in the project so that I had got enough time in working for syntillations. To the last I would ask a sorry to my wife and my child for not spending enough time with them last year. It was not at all possible for me without my wifes support.

Baba Balia, a spiritual leader form orissa.

In a world filled with diverse religious beliefs, it is not uncommon to encounter spiritual leaders who inspire and captivate the hearts of people. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a housewarming function where I was introduced to a remarkable individual named Pujya Pujaka Baba Baliaji Maharaj, hailing from Tirtol, Orissa, in the sacred land of Jagannath Dham. Baba Baliaji Maharaj is not only a socio-religious reformer but also a beacon of spiritual power, abstract devotion, and universal love. His influence has touched the lives of countless individuals across Orissa and other corners of our vast nation.

At the housewarming function, I met Baba Baliaji Maharaj and witnessed the blessings he bestowed upon those in attendance. Intrigued by his presence, I decided to delve deeper into his teachings and philosophy. Spiritual leaders like him are not uncommon in India, a country known for its rich spiritual heritage. Some remain localized within their communities, while others gain fame and recognition at a state or even national level. It is not unheard of for Indian spiritual leaders to gain global recognition as well.

What struck me about Baba Baliaji Maharaj is his profound respect, recognition, and adoration for all religions, incarnations, and great mentors. His life's mission is to promote harmony among different religious paths by embodying and practicing the ideals of Srimad Bhagavad Gita. Baba Baliaji's contributions to enriching the spiritual and moral values of humanity are immeasurable. Through his discourses, he has revolutionized the field of religion, making complex concepts from epics like the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vedas, and Upanishads accessible and applicable to the everyday lives of ordinary individuals.

During his spiritual discourses, Baba Baliaji emphasizes the importance of fostering true love, affection, confidence, compassion, and respect within families. He urges his audience to uphold noble familial traditions and strengthen the unbreakable bonds of family. According to him, the family unit is the building block of a nation, and if families falter, the entire nation's foundation becomes weak and unstable. Such a scenario could lead to the erosion of solidarity, unity, and integrity, giving rise to despair, conflict, destitution, violence, and hostility. Baba Baliaji highlights the interconnectedness of families and nations, underscoring the significance of familial harmony in creating a peaceful and prosperous society.

As I reflect on my encounter with Baba Baliaji Maharaj and his teachings, I am reminded of the immense influence that spiritual leaders can have in shaping individuals and communities. Regardless of one's personal beliefs or lack thereof, it is crucial to respect and appreciate the diverse spiritual paths that people follow. The teachings of individuals like Baba Baliaji Maharaj serve as a reminder of the universal values of love, compassion, and unity that transcend religious boundaries. By embracing these principles, we can collectively work towards a world where peace, understanding, and harmony prevail.

OBL feedback @ value lanes

Most of the people had a very pleasant experience with the out bound learning (OBL) conducted individuals have felt that there is no replacement for such programs because of the output they have in their own professional life and in the team. It was full of enjoyment and fun we had there and it was too late when we realized that we have learned lots of things.

Most of us felt that the learning was more stable throughout the programs where we got involved and self realization learning curve was high which we realized after all the fun we had.
o Highest weightage is on the realization that the contribution of each individual is important in the team.
o The teamwork would make things simpler and understanding other team members and accepting them as they are is another learning.
o the practices that need to be followed to come up as a team and deliver the quality output on time. The individual effort that we need to put in for that by being a good team player, proactive, good listener, owning up individual responsibilities, committed towards the project and the work you do.
o The importance of proactive planning before execution of the task and understanding the work up to lower level of granularity which is being supposed to done, can help you to get a quality work on time.
o To follow a process which is already proven and to Learn from past experiences helps in avoiding mistakes. At the same time if there is enough time to do an experiment think out of the box and look for alternate ways.
o How so ever confident we are in the process that we follow it is better to have an alternate way as a backup plan .
o Be transparent to both the ends so that it is easy for them also to have alternate plans and advises
o In critical situations have patience and do not panic, blame but help each others to handle the stress.
o To know each other and to build up a better relationship with each members, understanding the strengths of the individuals at some time also to evaluate some of the members.
o It was brought to light that how some one can be responsible when a responsibility is given, and how he can lead others too.
o A self realization on the weakness and the strengths is an added learning. The importance of asking for help when needed and proactively giving when you realize another needs is a great culture in building a confident and strong team which increases the bounding between the team members.
o The most amazing learning is the knowledge of understanding that how much faith and confidence another person has kept on yourself.
o Listen to others, do not interrupt them and once done provide your open comments. Do not comment for the reason to comment. Give ideas and guide the team if you think you can

The Good Points which we got from the OBL should certainly be taken in to the daily work and the action needs to be taken to improve further
o We were Excellent as a team and should not allow any situation to spoil the team sprit we have. We were open in helping each other this needs to be improved within the team members.
o Better the relationship is the stronger the team is and also the quality of the delivery. This also helped in the personal and professional growth of each individual.
o The opportunity given to take the responsibility was openly taken, which should be improved and there needs to be more and more opportunity and responsibility given to the team.
o One of the greatest strengths we carries was that most of us did not had egos, this needs to be carried forward in the team so that the openness and success follows.
o Smaller or bigger, good or bad the feedback given to on time, helped people to analyze their own experience/faults, giving better results in future.
o Understanding of individuals strength, interest and specialization helped in a better planning this could be taken in real life where they would be doing things of their interest than a job which is assigned.
o If you feel that there is a problem in the system show it then and there and start the process then. Once the process is started we need to agree to the common goal and should not be taking a step back. This could lead to a complete collapsing of the system.
o We have shown great degree of dedication, team work in performing on the job this needs to be brought to the daily work. Show your complete skill/talent. Don’t wait until someone points that.

Most of us felt that there are also some area for improvements this need to be considered and action on these needs to be taken to make the team a better one.
o Building up the personal willingness in giving more importance to the quality of work delivered. It needs to be every individuals responsibility to understand and follow the quality processes.
o Time Estimation is one of the areas which we need to work on. Dividing the tasks and getting individuals involved in understanding from everyone on their task is important. Should not estimate for someone else as he is the one who supposed to do it.
o We have a good knowledge as a individual but not as a team we should have a right way of knowledge sharing to build a strong team. This is possible with improving communication system within team, and discussions on the projects to other team members and to the people who are handling other projects. There could be some person in the team who has done it before or is an expert in the area.
o Losing the temper when you see someone doing things which is in an unexpected way for you is to be reduced. Every individual needs to accept the other person as he is and needs to practice to keep this work. This could be also improved with a better communication and being open to each other. Be true to yourself and be open.
o Patience, if something is not going right, have patience and think for an alternative. Don’t try to deliver it in hurry.
o An analysis on “why such great dedication by each person” is important. It was more of proving themselves when given a task. There comes the responsibility and the willingness to dedicate every individual to the final goal which is the completion of the task as a team. Never give up, an attitude coupled with more planning and co-ordination could help make the job successful

To make you go slow I break your spine

40 humps in 6 kilometers. Yes I am talking about the Harlur road which connects Hosur Road Near Singasandra to Sarjapur road near the outer ring road. Most of the humps in this road are illegal ones and are against the standards. Most of the cars will have to scratch its bottom on most of the humps. It is also called as a spine breaker by the medical experts. As per them. It is a big danger to the motorcyclists.
The actual speed breaker needs to be constructed only with the following specification.

Most importantly a driver needs to be notified that there is a speed breaker on the way with a signal and also by differentiating it with a different colors. There is a lot of accidents happening in this road when people tries to avoid speed breakers and move through the sides of it. Some department felt that there needs to be some action that needs to be taken and have drawn yellow zebra crossing. On all the humps.

It says something like this to me. You go fast and break your head, to make you go slow I break your spine. Choice is yours.

Dead body found in Bellundur Lake

Bellandur Lake (or Bellandur Kere) is a lake which lies to the southeast of the city of Bangalore, and is the largest lake in the city. It is a part of Bellandur drainage system that drains the southern and the southeastern parts of the city. The lake is a receptor from three chains of lakes upstream, and has a catchment area of about 148 square kilometres (37,000 acres). Water from this lake flows further east to the Varthur Lake, from where it flows down the plateau and eventually into the Pinakani river basin. It is currently highly polluted with sewage. the cost of maintain will come approx. to some 100 of crores the cost includes desilting, strengthening of bund and beautification.

361.3 hectare
Length- 3.6 KM
Breadth- 1.4 KM
Shore line- 2.7 KM
Water depth - 6 feet
There is a road through the shore of the lake which was earlier a bund between the lake and the field, which connects Bebllendur and Yemlur villages. I have been using this road to go to office for the past five years. Recently this road is tared and both the sides of the road has been fenced. This had increased the traffic But some portion of the road is still open and not fenced. Yesterday morning when I went to fooce on the way I could see that the police and the fire forece searching in the lake and there was a car white colour taken out of the lake. There were two boys who were fully drenched in mud. When I enquired they said that there is aperson missing. Today morning decan herald reported that the boy is still missing. While coming to office I saw that there is croud again in the same place where the boys hand is popped out of the mud.

Friends in a daze, police baffled Bangalore, Nov 17, DHNS

Both the police and fire personnel are baffled over the disappearance of Aditya, an young engineer, while travelling atop a car on Wednesday morning.
Five young men, all engineers, who were travelling on Yamlur tank bund lost control of their car and plunged into the lake. Four escaped unhurt while Aditya is still missing.
Aditya could not have fallen to the left of the road as there is a barricade and the only possibility is that he might have sunk in the slush in the tank.
At the Airport traffic police station, Vinod and Kishore were sitting dazed. Mohith joined them later and tried his best to unravel the story.
The police inspector took him to the car and asked him to show how exactly Aditya was travelling on top of the car. Meanwhile, a constable climbed the car and tried to position himself on the parked vehicle. Searching for words, Mohith could only mutter say: 'Sir, I can only say he was travelling seated on the top.”
The friends searched almost all the hospitals in the City on Wednesday, thinking that Aditya might have slipped and fallen on the road and someone might have taken him to hospital. But in vain. “Aditya is a very positive and hyperactive person. I am confident that even if he was stuck in the lake, he will wriggle out and meet us to tell the tale,” said Mohith.
Aditya’s parents were inconsolable. From early morning, they were glued to the earthmover which was digging out the weeds, in search of Aditya, who has gone missing.
Only child
Vishwanth, Aditya’s father told Deccan Herald: “Aditya is my eldest child and only son. My daughter is still young.”
After completing his PUC in KLE, Aditya went on to become an engineer. He has also appeared for the MBA entrance exam. The family is from Andhra Pradesh and came to the City long ago.
Till late in the evening, police were struggling to collect details of Sowmya and her whereabouts, since her statements are crucial for the case. Traffic cops were contemplating to file a missing complaint with the HAL police station.

God's hand while driving.

The person who taught me driving was George Thomas, a friend of mine in Bangalore. When I took my car for the first time with him, I had to take it to the reverse direction. He was not happy with that and told me, if it is in the reverse gear that you need to go while starting the car, then you first move the gear to the first and take the vehicle a little to the front and then take it to the reverse gear. I kept it a practice to do the same as part of the prayer. I also say "God save me", when I start the car. I have also seen most of the people in India doing this.
But some times I wonder then why would there be an accidents on the roads if they had started there vehicles after prayers. And this was disturbing me for a while.
It was Diwali and my in laws were invited to Bangalore to celebrate it with us. We booked a bus for him to Trichy on the Sunday after the Diwali. It was from Bommanahalli by 1:00 pm. we mistook it as 1:45 and reached there by 1:30 just to find that the bus has already left. One of the staff told us to try to get it from Hosur as the bus started 10 minutes ago. Since it was a multi axial Volvo it speeds very fast and was almost impossible to get the bus. I tryed to take a chance and speed to Hosur. It was raining heavily. Visibility was almost 30% the fastest wipe of the wiper couldn't wipe away all the water from the glass of my car. The cyclone was entering the land in between Chennai and Nellore.
I had taken my car today also after the prayer. While speeding the car a call from my inside is telling me that it is not safe to drive fast. While crossing one of the flyovers I could see an LED electronic hanging board displaying "Wet Road, Drive Slow". I knew what it meant and completely agreed to it, but I had to catch the bus in Hosur. I was driving in a speed of 120 KM/H. While crossing Naarayana Hrudayalaya Hospital, I could see a luggage Autoriksha crossing the road from the other side. I could see the blue colour of the vehicle partially through the water.  I pressed the break with all the force and held the steering with all my strength so that my car will not skid. I could see my child and my wife sitting next to me. The car was moving in the same speed by the tyres were not rotating. It skid for the next 50 meters. I could see that the auto moving to the other half of my car where my wife and my child were sitting. there was no escape but to hit it. I was sure that it was going to hit. I could not change the direction of the car while the car is under applied break, as there is no ABS in the car. But my inner will and cautiousness was not at all worried. I was holding complete confidence from inside. and was not at all disturbed. One meter from the Autoriksha, Streering automatically turned to the left and changed the direction of the car. It hurt my hand, as I was holding it so tight, at the angle of my hand. All of a sudden we made a narrow escape. My wife thought that I did a master technique to escape. My father in law who is an expert driver with out knowing anything told me that I should avoid these kind of people, who does not respect traffic rules. He thought that I was teasing the autoriksha driver and showing that I was going to hit him. When I said that "No, I was standing on the break, and trying to stop it", he got scared. there was no streaking sound from the road as the road was completely  wet. My wife she noticed that I was applying the break and with and expert twist I saved the life and appreciated me. And to her I said, "Yes, I had applied the break, which did not work, and was holding the steering tight so the car would not skid, but I did not change the direction. It was the God.".  It was the hand of the God to who I pray who changed the direction of the car, I told myself."
